Co-founder of R&B Distillers Alistair Day has been recreating his grandfather’s whisky recipes since 2009. Last year marked the 100 year anniversary of the final page entry in the cellar book. To celebrate, R&B crafted a truly special blend of 4 single cask single malts, using the last casks that were used in all 5 batches of The Tweeddale blend to date.
On the nose, the Last Centennial first offers a classic Islay peat, with notes of citrus fruit coming through with time. On the palate, this gives way to elements of grapefruit peach and plum, complimented by toasted woody notes. The finish is long with hints of orange, rich oak and a delicate spice.
